Magneto-induktive Sensoren vereinen die Vorteile von induktiven Sensoren und Magnetsensoren. Diese Sensoren der Reihe mainSENSOR basieren auf einem patentierten Messprinzip, das von Micro-Epsilon entwickelt wurde.

Hierbei misst der Sensor mit hoher Dynamik den Abstand zu einem Magneten, der am Messobjekt befestigt wird. Die Bewegung des Magneten bewirkt eine Veränderung des magnetischen Flusses im Sensorelement und diese Veränderung wird durch die Sensorspule erfasst. Es ergibt sich ein linearer Zusammenhang zwischen Abstand und Ausgangssignal.

Magneto-induktive Sensoren bringen gegenüber induktiven Sensoren den Vorteil einer gleichbleibend hohen Empfindlichkeit ein, die auch am Messbereichsende und im bündigen Einbau in nicht ferromagnetische Materialien erhalten bleibt.
