Microsoft kann im ersten Quartal des Fiskaljahres 2004 erneut Rekordgewinne einstreichen. Bauchschmerzen bereitet der Gates-Company allerdings die schwache Nachfrage von Unternehmenskunden.

Microsoft steigert seinen Nettogewinn um über ein Viertel auf 2,61 Milliarden Dollar (Vorjahr 2,04 Milliarden Dollar). Beim Umsatz ging es nicht ganz so rapide nach oben, aber das Wachstum auf 8,2 Milliarden Dollar (Vorjahr 7,7 Milliarden Dollar) ist immer noch respektabel. Alle sieben Unternehmensbereiche können Zuwachsraten verbuchen, wobei allerdings bei den Clients mit 2,8 Milliarden Dollar de facto eine Stagnation festzustellen ist, während sich die Mobile Division nahezu über eine Verdoppelung des Umsatzes von 28 auf 53 Millionen Dollar freuen kann.
