Das smc DA 17-70mm / 4,0 AL [IF] SDM ergänzt ab Juli 2008 das Pentax D-SLR Objektivsortiment mit Ultraschallmotoren (Supersonic Drive Motor). Mit einem Brennweitenbereich von 26mm Weitwinkel bis 107mm Tele (entspr. KB-Format) und der stufenlosen Makrofunktion empfiehlt es sich als ideales Standard-Zoom für die gängigsten Aufnahmesituationen mit einer Pentax D-SLR Kamera der K200D oder K20D Reihe.

Das Objektiv verfügt über die schmutzabweisende "Super Protect"-SP-Vergütung der Frontlinse und das Pentax "Quick Shift Focus System". Es ist ein Objektiv mit herausragenden Abbildungseigenschaften und solider Verarbeitung.
