Epson Toyocom Corporation, Weltmarktführer für Quarzprodukte, hat den dünnsten kHz-Kristall der Welt entwickelt. Der neue Stimmgabelquarz namens FC-13E hat eine maximale Dicke von nur 0, 48 Millimetern.

Der FC-13E schlägt damit sogar den firmeneigenen FC-13F, dermit einer maximalen Dicke von 0,6 Millimeter der dünnste Kristall seiner Klasse war, als er im Januar 2007 auf den Markt kam. Epson Toyocom konnte die Bauform seiner kHz-Kristalle durch Anwendung seiner QMEMS-Technologie und spezieller Assemblierungstechnologien weiter verringern.
