Der 32,768kHz-Quarz FC-135R hat mit max. 50 kΩ einen besonders geringen äquivalenten Serienwiderstand (ESR). Mit seinem neuen Produkt unterstützt Epson aktuelle Microcontroller-Systeme, die auf eine niederohmige Taktquelle angewiesen sind.

Viele Mikrocontroller haben einen integrierten Oszillator, der von einem externen Quarz mit 32,768kHz angesteuert wird. Die Stromaufnahme dieses Oszillators kann ohne Beeinträchtigung der Anschwingsicherheit verringert werden, wenn zugleich der ESR des Quarzes sinkt. Da eine niederohmige Taktquelle außerdem die Anschwingzeit reduziert, gibt es für Low-Power MCUs aktuell einen klaren Trend zu 32,768kHz-Quarzen mit sehr geringem ESR.
