Den Frequenzumrichter EM 148-FC hat Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) in der Leistung auf 1,5 Kilowatt verdoppelt. Der Umrichter ist als Modul für Simatic ET200X, die dezentralen Peripheriegeräte hoher Schutzart IP67, ausgeführt. Ohne einen Schaltschrank zu benötigen, löst EM 148-FC drehzahlgesteuerte Antriebsaufgaben direkt an der Maschine - etwa fördertechnische Applikationen in Rollenbahnen oder Hubstationen.

Je ET200X-Station sind bis zu sechs Frequenzumrichter-Module steckbar, wobei die Versorgungsspannung mit einer einzigen Energieleitung, dem Energiebus, von Modul zu Modul weitergeleitet wird. Der Anschluss der Motoren erfolgt per Ecofast-Steckertechnik. Zusätzlich ist der Motorabgang besonders abgeschirmt, um Störeinflüsse auf Umrichter und Umgebung zu vermeiden.
