Mit der PROFI-5000 Serie stellt Spectra eine Reihe neuer Module mit digitalen und analogen Ein- und Ausgabekanälen und PROFIBUS-Schnittstelle vor. Die Module sind einfach auf DIN-Schiene oder Wand montierbar und sehr gut für die Realisierung dezentraler Aufgabenstellungen geeignet, bei de-nen die Aktoren und Sensoren weit voneinander entfernt sind. Dies ist beispielsweise häufig in der Gebäudeautomatisierung, bei Test- und Prüfstandinstallationen, bei der Umweltmesstechnik oder bei Anwendungen in der Abwasserwirtschaft der Fall. Mit den PROFI-5000 Modulen können sehr einfach bereits bestehende, zentrale PROFIBUS-Installationen um weitere, entfernt liegende E/A-Kanäle er-gänzt werden.
