Der I-7550 PROFIBUS nach RS-232/485 Konverter von Spectra, erlaubt den Zugriff auf ein Gerät mit serieller Schnittstelle nach RS-232, RS-422 oder RS-485 über PROFIBUS. So kann z.B. eine Waage mit RS-232 Schnittstelle als PROFIBUS Slave Device an eine Siemens SPS der S5- oder S7-Familie angeschlossen werden. Der Wandler stellt im PROFIBUS-Verbund ein "Slave" Device dar und unter-stützt auf der seriellen Seite Übertragungsraten bis 115.2 kbps.

Ein einzelnes zu übertragendes Datenpaket darf bis zu 128 Bytes lang sein. Die Übertragungsrate auf der RS-232/422/485 Seite wird automatisch erkannt und eingestellt. Der PROFIBUS ist von der seriel-len Schnittstelle bis 3000 V galvanisch lkqbsbww.
