Die Vision vom unfallfreien Fahren ist so alt wie das Auto selbst. Die Unfallzahlen sprechen jedoch eine andere Sprache. Allerdings liegen die Ursachen weniger im Versagen der Technik - wie einem platzenden Reifen -, sondern zum großen Teil beim Menschen. Die Bemühung, Technik für den Menschen benutzbar zu machen, bzw. seine Defizite auszugleichen, ist die Motivation vieler Innovationen im Automobil. Beim "Chemnitzer Wissenschaftscafé" zeigt Prof. Dr. Birgit Spanner-Ulmer, Inhaberin der Professur Arbeitswissenschaft an der TU Chemnitz, am Beispiel des Automobils, wie stark der Mensch beim Autofahren gefordert wird und wie er dabei (zukünftig) unterstützt werden kann.
