TI Introduces High-Port-Density Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver

Texas Instruments (TI) [NYSE: TXN] introduced today a six-channel Gigabit Ethernet transceiver that provides a full-featured, flexible interface in data communications and telecommunications equipment. The device combines high port-density with a small footprint and ultra-low power operation of less than 1.5 W at 1.25 gigabits per second (Gbps) to reduce overall system cost, board space and power consumption. The TLK2226 provides for high-speed, full-duplex, point-to-point data transmission based on the IEEE 802.3z 1000-Mbps Ethernet specification, and it is compatible with the IEEE 100Base-FX Ethernet specification.
