DFG bewilligt Sonderforschungsbereich zur Entzündung der Leber

Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) hat heute den neuen Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 841 der Universität Hamburg zum Thema Leberentzündung bewilligt. In den nächsten vier Jahren stehen damit etwa zehn Millionen Euro für die langfristige Spitzenforschung zur Verfügung. Sprecher des neuen SFB ist Prof. Dr. Ansgar W. Lohse, Direktor der I. Medizinischen Klinik des Universitätsklinikums Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).

Grundlagenforscher und Klinikärzte des UKE und des Bernhard-Nocht-Instituts werden gemeinsam mit je einer Arbeitsgruppe der Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel und der Hebrew University Jerusalem die Funktion der Leber erforschen.

Ziel ist ein besseres Verständnis von Infektionen, Entzündungen und Tumorerkrankungen des zentralen Stoffwechselorgans.
