1. Europäische Konferenz zur CARS-Mikroskopie

Bei der Entwicklung einer neuen optischen Technik für die räumlich hoch aufgelöste Bildgebung, der so genannten CARS-Mikroskopie, ist eine Arbeitsgruppe von Wissenschaftlern der Universität Stuttgart unter Leitung von Dr. Andreas Volkmer vom 3. Physikalischen Institut weltweit an der Spitze. Dabei werden die Schwingungseigenschaften biologischer Moleküle für die Bildgebung ausgenutzt. Mit neuesten laserspektroskopischen Methoden erlaubt dieses Mikroskopieverfahren die chemisch-selektive Darstellung mikroskopischer Details ohne Anfärbung in einzelnen Zellen oder im Gewebe. Die CARS-Mikroskopie (Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering) ermöglicht eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen in der Biophysik, der Zellbiologie, der medizinischen Diagnostik und den Materialwissenschaften.
