Raumfahrt aus Leidenschaft: Neuigkeiten zu suprafluidem Helium

In der Vorlesungsreihe "Raumfahrt aus Leidenschaft" des Instituts für Raumfahrtsysteme der Universität Stuttgart geht es am Donnerstag, den 17. Dezember um suprafluides Helium. Prof. Hans-Peter Röser wird erläutern, dass zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Satelliten insbesondere für die astronomische Beobachtung flüssiges Helium an Bord benötigen, um die Instrumente und in manchen Fällen sogar das gesamte Teleskopsystem auf Temperaturen von 4,2 K oder darunter abzukühlen. Benutzt man suprafluides Helium verbessert man die Eigenschaften der verwendeten Detektoren nochmals erheblich. Leider ist die Missionsdauer durch die Verfügbarkeit des sich verbrauchenden flüssigen Heliums begrenzt.
