Breite Kreuzimmunität gegen weiteres SARS-CoV-2-Protein nachgewiesen

Wissenschaftler:innen des Universitätsklinikums Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) haben kreuzreaktive Immunantworten auf ein weiteres SARS-CoV-2-Protein nachgewiesen. Bei dem sogenannten Nicht-Struktur-Protein-12 (NSP12) stellten die Forschenden in ihrer Studie eine breite Reaktion der T-Zellen des Immunsystems fest – auch bei Proband:innen, die noch nicht an COVID-19 erkrankt waren. Diese T-Zellen sind vermutlich durch eine frühere Infektion mit anderen Corona-Erkältungsviren (CCC) entstanden und reagieren gleichermaßen auf Teile des SARS-CoV-2-Proteins. Ihre Forschungsergebnisse haben die Wissenschaftler:innen in der Fachzeitschrift Frontiers in Immunology veröffentlicht. Ebenfalls an der Studie beteiligt waren Forschende des La Jolla Institute for Immunology/Kalifornien um Dr. Alessandro Sette.
