Dabei arbeiten VITA 34 und ein Team der MHH unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Ulrich Martin daran, Nabelschnurblutzellen so rückzuprogrammieren, dass sie die Eigenschaften embryonaler Stammzellen aufweisen, die sich dann in verschiedene Körpergewebszellen entwickeln können. iPS-Zellen gelten als besonders aussichtsreicher Forschungsansatz für eine leistungsfähige Stammzelltherapie.
