Motorsport muss laut und dreckig sein, und in der Boxengasse muss es nach Benzin riechen - eine Meinung, die längst überholt ist. Selbst in der Formel 1 wird über umweltfreundliche Alternativen für trotzdem spannenden und schnellen Motorsport nachgedacht. Grund genug also für den DMV (Deutscher Motorsport Verband), gemeinsam mit YOKOHAMA alternative Antriebe und Kraftstoffe zu fördern. Deshalb wurde der DMV YOKOHAMA GreenTec Cup in Form einer Sonderwertung ins Leben gerufen. Mitmachen kann fast jeder, der in einer deutschen Rennserie unterwegs ist. Von der Langstreckenmeisterschaft über das 24-Stunden-Rennen bis hin zu Clubsport Slalom sind nahezu alle Autosportveranstaltungen zugelassen.
