Die Berufung von Martin Schumacher in den Vorstand der deutschen ABB erfolgt zum 1. März 2011.
Zeitgleich tritt Joachim Schneider (dann 63) in den Ruhestand. Der Aufsichtsrat dankte Joachim Schneider für 27 Jahre verdienstvollen Wirkens in einer Reihe verantwortlicher Positionen bei ABB.
Martin Schumacher (50) ist seit 1994 bei ABB und fungiert derzeit als Geschäftsbereichsleiter Hochspannungsprodukte sowie als lokaler Divisionsleiter für Energietechnikprodukte bei ABB in der Schweiz. Sein Studium zum Diplom-Ingenieur absolvierte er an der RWTH Aachen, promovierte dort 1994 im Fachbereich Hochspannungstechnik und hatte seitdem unterschiedliche Führungspositionen bei ABB in Deutschland und der Schweiz inne.
