Das Academic Mainframe Council e. V. ist Gründungsmitglied des von IBM gegründeten Mainframe Skills Council. "Wir sind begeistert von der Idee, Gründungsmitglied des Mainframe Skills Council zu sein" sagt Wolfram Greis, der 1. Vorstand des AMC eV.

IBM hat Anfang März auf der SHARE-Konferenz in Orlando das Mainframe Skills Council vorgestellt, um ein Forum zu schaffen, in dem globale Organisationen qualifizierte, vielfältige und nachhaltige Arbeitskräfte für die Mainframe-Plattform fördern. Neben IBM gehören dem Rat Organisationen von IBM-Kunden, IBM-Partnern, Hochschulen, Benutzergruppen, gemeinnützigen Organisationen und offenen Gemeinschaften an, die bei der Implementierung von Lösungen zur Entwicklung von Mainframe-Fähigkeiten zusammenarbeiten werden. Zu den ersten Mitgliedern gehören das Academic Mainframe Consortium, die Albany State University, Broadcom, DNB Bank, HOGENT, M&T Bank, Northern Illinois University, Rocket Software, SHARE und 21CS.

Um Mainframes auch in Zukunft effizient und sicher betreiben zu können, ist gut ausgebildetes Personal die wichtigste Voraussetzung", so Wolfram Greis, 1. Vorstand des Academic Mainframe Consortium e. V. "Das gemeinnützige Academic Mainframe Consortium unterstützt Universitäten und andere wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen mit Infrastruktur, Know-how und Dozenten."

Das Academic Mainframe Consortium e. V. setzt sich aus interessierten Hochschulen und Universitäten, Unternehmen und Freunden des Mainframes zusammen. Gemeinsam möchten wir mit Spaß und Engagement die Ausbildung zum Thema „Enterprise Computing“ an Europas akademischen Einrichtungen unterstützen. Wir vernetzen Hochschulen und Universitäten mit Unternehmen und Studenten mit Mainframe Professionals.
