Dennoch können die meisten Alpenpässe noch befahren werden, vielerorts jedoch nur noch mit Hilfe von Schneeketten, teilte der ACE Auto Club Europa mit.
Aus dem vom Club am Montag in Stuttgart veröffentlichten Lagebericht geht weiter hervor, dass von den rund 200 Passstraßen derzeit 66 gesperrt sind. Die Situation könne sich jedoch infolge rascher Wetterwechsel binnen Stunden ändern.
Wegen akuter Lawinengefahr musste in Österreich die Sicherheitssperre auf die viel befahrene Felberntauernstraße ausgehnt werden. Sie ist laut ACE derzeit zwischen Kötschach-Mauthen und Kartitsch in Tirol nicht befahrbar. Auch die Landesstraßen im Lesachtal wurden jetzt aus Sicherheitsgründen gesperrt. Einige Ortschaften in Österreich sind nach ACE-Anbaben bereits von der Außenwelt abgeschnitten, so das bekannte "Gailtal". Auf zahlreichen Strecken muss zudem mit Behinderungen durch langsam fahrende Schneeräumfahrzeuge gerechnet werden. Betroffen davon sind unter anderem auch die Brenner- und Tauernautobahn.
Der ACE riet daher allen Autofahrern, sich vor der Fahrt in die Berge über Wetterlage und Straßenverhältnisse umfassend zu informieren. Es sei unverantwortlich, ohne Mitnahme von Schneeketten ins Hochgebirge zu starten, warnen die ACE-Touristikexperten.
