Zwar sei es zum Teil nachvollziehbar, wenn die Preise für Benzin und Diesel zuletzt trotz der sinkenden Ölpreise gestiegen seien, sagte ACE-Sprecher Rainer Hillgärtner. Denn die Preise an den internationalen Märkten würden erst mit einer Verzögerung von Wochen an den Zapfsäulen wirksam. Allerdings falle auf ,dass Steigerungen des Ölpreises immer sofort weitergegeben würden, Senkungen hingegen nicht. Das aber könne nicht mehr länger hingenommen werden, mahnte der Sprecher des Clubs. Die Politik sei jetzt gefordert und müsse im Interesse der Verbraucher die Möglichkeiten des Wettbewerbs- und Kartellrechts anwenden und voll ausschöpfen.
Wie der ACE am Mittwoch in Stuttgart weiter erklärte, ist der Preis für einen Liter Super Benzin binnen 24 Stunden im bundesweiten Durchschnitt aller Tankstellen um etwa vier Cent auf rund 1,48 Euro gestiegen. Ähnlich deutlich sei die Preissteigerung beim Dieselkraftstoff ausgefallen, der Liter kostete danach am Mittwoch im Schnitt 1,44 Euro. In den vergangenen Wochen ist der Preis für ein Barrel Rohöl von 147 Dollar auf unter 120 Dollar eingebrochen .
