During the last two years, the utility provider ewz, in cooperation with the city's IT organisation OIZ has been operating the LoRaWAN infrastructure in the city of Zürich and has thereby gained experience internally and with various city departments. The network serves as the basis for several Smart City use cases and offers excellent network coverage in the Zurich city area.
This is why ewz feels confident in now igniting the next stage of their Smart City Network. As of today, ewz, in collaboration with the startup akenza, is opening its network to the public as a connectivity as a service. Entities in Zürich wishing to launch Smart City or other IoT projects in the city can access ewz.LoRaWAN network directly from the akenza platform and integrate their IoT sensors accordingly. This is done in a couple of minutes, without complex contracts or long-term commitment. A free-trial period of up to 30 days is available now.
Thanks to this new offer, ewz and akenza hope to support the innovation journey and make IoT more accessible to the businesses of Zürich. Energy metering, workplace efficiency, geo-tracking, smart retail, smart supply chain; everything is possible now with the ewz.LoRaWAN network.
