OSI Optoelectronics releases planar diffused photodiodes and silicon avalanche photodiodes
As European distribution partner of the American manufacturer OSI Optoelectronics AMS Technologies announces the development of new photodiodes. The new '800nm optimised Silicon APD Series' is available in hermetic metal packages. The devices offer lower noise and high sensitivity over bandwidths up to 1GHz. The temperature coefficient is as low as 0.45 V/˚C. Typical applications are optical fiber communication, laser range finder and high speed photometry.
The planar diffused photodiodes offer lower capacitance and higher rise times compared to the inversion layer photodiodes. The new devices also exhibit linearity of photocurrent up to higher light outputs. OSI Optoelectronics developed a serie of IR suppressed photodiodes where the IR sensitivity is suppressed to minimize ambient light interference. Both series may be biased for lower capacitance, faster response and wider dynamic range. Or they may be operated in the photovoltaic (unbiased) mode for applications requiring low drift with temperature variations. Typical applications are pulse detectors, optical communications, bar code readers, optical remote control, medical equipment and high speed photometry.
