The highly reliable, planar InGaAs APD covers a spectral range from 0.95 to 1.65 μm with a sensitivity of typically 9 A / W (M = 10, λ = 1.55 μm). The noise characteristics (Excess Noise Factor) are very good and there are only small leakage currents.
The response speed is over 1 GHz (3 dB bandwidth).
The InGaAs APD is preferably supplied in chip or wafer format. On customer request, the individual chips can also be installed in suitable TO or CLCC housings.
A housed standard version in the TO46 package with integrated thermoelectric cooler will be available shortly from ANDANTA.
Key applications include LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), Pulse Width Distance and Velocity Measurement, Sensitive Spectral Analysis, Fiber Optic Communication and Testing, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Security and more.
