- Arvato Systems shows the trends creating the Smart Logistics of the future
- “Supply Chain Solutions for Digital Leaders”: Arvato Systems reaches out to the logistics industry with innovative solutions that add value
“Supply Chain Solutions for Digital Leaders” is the slogan for Arvato Systems experts on Stand F21 in Hall 7, where they will share information on trends and IT solutions in logistics. As a result of digitalization, the logistics industry has its own set of challenges to face. New approaches and innovative solutions are needed to maximize the benefits offered by megatrends such as Industry 4.0, higher levels of automation and the introduction of wearables into the logistics industry.
“Logistics is in a state of flux” according to Bernd Jaschinski-Schürmann, Head of SCM Consulting at Arvato Systems. “New technologies are coming to market at an exponential rate; the world is ever more networked and ever more complex. What we need is smart, innovative approaches.”
New technologies are also the stimulus for new, hitherto unknown business models. Established models and processes need to be re-thought and re-worked for the future. For IT solutions, this means that new developments have to be ready for market in a shorter timeframe – and the speed of change continues to increase. To succeed, IT solutions need to be fast, simple, intuitive, efficient and service oriented.
Pick-by-Watch – Mobile order processing worn on the wrist
The use of smartwatches has meant that logistics processes are relatively easy to digitize. Logistics workers can communicate and process orders using a wrist-worn smartwatch. Integrated IT solution “Pick-by-Watch” generates improved efficiency and a reduction in error rates. The Arvato Systems stand provides a showcase where visitors can see the smart solution at work and can even try it out for themselves.
Virtual Reality – Virtual Simulations of future Logistics Systems
Virtual Reality puts companies in the position of being able to create realistic models of future logistics systems, and simulate the effects of physical and mechanical factors. These simulations open up the possibility of improvements in the profitability of planned logistics projects, optimizing results. Visitors to the stand can dive into the virtual reality of logistics live on the show stand.
Gamification – Gamified applications for staff motivation
It is easier to remember information that has been received in a game-like way; it is in our nature to enjoy playing games. “Gaming Center Logistics” makes the most of this natural tendency. Game-playing applications designed for the world of sport can help raise staff motivation and job satisfaction.
SAP S/4HANA
With the S/4HANA Enterprise Platform, SAP has created a basis from which the demands of digitization can be met. The in-memory platform enables real-time analysis and processing of large amounts of data. For the logistics sector, the platform provides significant advantages. Arvato Systems IT experts show how the change to S/4HANA can take place and discuss the specific benefits that companies can achieve through making this change.
