Vor allem größere Unternehmen setzen mittelfristig stärker auf Messen: 23 % erwarten einen Bedeutungszuwachs, nur 7 % einen Rückgang. Im Vergleich der Wirtschaftssektoren sehen Investitionsgüterhersteller ein deutliches Plus für Messen in den nächsten fünf Jahren: 20 % rechnen mit höherer Bedeutung, 8 % mit geringerer.
Nach Einschätzung des AUMA zeigen diese Ergebnisse, dass die ausstellenden Unternehmen gegenwärtig weit überwiegend positive Erfahrungen mit dem Instrument Messe machen. Der intensive Wettbewerb zwischen den Marketinginstrumenten gehe nicht zulasten von Messebeteiligungen. Auch im Zeitalter der Online-Medien gewinne die direkte, persönliche Kommunikation offensichtlich noch an Bedeutung.
