Keine Frage: Das gigantische Auflösungsvermögen verführt die Interessenten geradezu zum Kauf, doch bringen die 8,3 Millionen Pixel herzlich wenig, wenn weder der Rest der Bildqualität noch die Ausstattung und der Bedienkomfort überzeugen. Die Fernseher stammen von Blaupunkt (B50 A401 TC-UHD; ca. 1.200 Euro), Changhong (UHD 55 B 6000 IS; ca. 1.400 Euro) sowie Hisense (LTDN 58 XT 880; ca. 3.000 Euro) und wurden allesamt extra für den Test gekauft.
Selbst vermeintliche Standardkomponenten wie ein Universal-Empfänger fürs digitale Antennen-, Kabel- und Satellitenfernsehen oder die 3D-Wiedergabe sind bei den drei Probanden keineswegs selbstverständlich – hier bieten zum Teil sogar Full-HD-Geräte mehr. Zudem werden über HDMI nur 4K-Signale mit maximal 30 Bildern pro Sekunde unterstützt; die internen Mediaplayer geben gar keine Dateien in UHD-Auflösung wieder. Verfügbare Demovideos wie beispielsweise auf UHDcontent.de oder Videos aktueller 4K-Camcorder können deshalb nicht abgespielt werden.
