Bilfinger Industrial Services Sweden and Borealis have been collaborating at the Stenungsund site since 2005. Under the terms of the contract renewal, Bilfinger will be deploying some 220 specially trained operatives at the site. The company sees substantial potential for growth in engineering services.
Bilfinger Industrial Services and Borealis have been working together for many years. The annual revenues which Bilfinger Industrial Services generates under this contract stands at an average of EUR 70 million. It works at nearly all Borealis sites, including Schwechat and Linz in Austria, Wittenberg and Burghausen in Germany, Kallo in Belgium and Porvoo in Finland alongside the Swedish facility in Stenungsund. All the turnarounds required by Borealis at its facilities are executed by Bilfinger companies. Thus, a turnaround in which a total of 1,200 contractor employees are involved is currently ongoing at the fertiliser production facility in Linz, Austria.
Gerald Pilotto, a member of Bilfinger Industrial Services' Executive Board, is convinced of the merits of the approach which Borealis is pursuing in relations with its service partners: "As a contractor, we are closely intermeshed with Borealis' structures thanks to the integrated award of contracts and the partnership principle. In this way, the joint teams work together to optimum effect, thus providing Borealis with substantial added value."
