Neue Generation antikörperähnlicher Wirkstoffe: Anticaline werden in EU-Forschungsverbund erforscht

Sehr geehrte Medienvertreter,
wir möchten Sie hinweisen auf die heutige Bekanntmachung des neuen europäischen Forschungsverbundes "EUROCALIN", der innerhalb des 7.EU Forschungsrahmenprogramms mit 6 Mio Euro gefördert wird.
Die leitende Koordination hat die Biotechnologiefirma Pieris AG in Freising inne, eine Ausgründung der TU München, die im Gründerzentrum IZB beheimatet ist.

Anticaline, um die es hier geht, sind Proteine mit ähnlichen Eigenschaften wie Antikörpern (einer hohen Variabilität in der spezifischen Bindung), sie sind jedoch um ein Vielfaches kleiner, einfacher herzustellen und daher im Entwicklungsprozess wesentlich kostengünstiger.
Diese "neue Generation" von Antikörpern soll nun an einem konkreten Krankheitsbild, der Blutarmut, innerhalb dieses europäischen Verbundes näher untersucht und optimiert werden.
