Cave systems are dedicated to render objects and environments in a real stereoscopic view. The new cave development is called round Cave, which means the projection-walls are generating a nearly closed circle which allows a panoramic view of about 260°. The rounded projection walls actually intensify the 3D immersive effect as compared to edged (squared) systems.
With the new solution IPL (Institut for Product-Management and Logistic) has developed a low-priced cave system by assembling commercially available standard-hardware components (roughly speaking from the shelf), offering 75% less expenses, says Prof. Dr. Meier, CEO of IPL. Thus smaller companies can also use the manifold cave applications in high quality. Possible applications range from medical surgical preparation, design studies and construction details, presentation of prototypes to facility planning, architecture and the creation of virtual models in the construction and plant engineering area. Even in motor cars the behavior of occupants and in aircrafts the behavior of passengers especially in critical situations can be realistically simulated.
The core of a cave is the stereoscopic 3D software responsible for visualization of scenes and environments as well as to offer the users to interact with the displayed objects. Based on our 3D software package one can generate a model of a projected factory or planned factory enlargement in a virtual environment in the cave before execution, explains Peter Schickel, CEO of Bitmanagement Software. Up to five persons can walk through the cave and test the details of future machine capacity or the volume of the inventory or its output. Even the lighting installation at the future workplaces can be tested for ergonomic correctness.
Both partners have agreed upon an online distribution model besides the conventional way of distributing. The online model offers the advantage for customers to receive detailed assembly instructions as well as necessary data for purchasing the required hardware components - free of charge and full functionality. The user can download the appropriate software for testing purposes from the internet in any corner of the world. As soon as the user acquires a license for BS Cave the Bitmanagement logo on his screen will disappear.

IPL was founded in 2006 from the 'Hochschule München' under the direction of Prof. Dr. Klaus-Jürgen Meier. IPL offers the development of cost-effective innovative solutions as a competent Partner in the product management and logistic area. The customers benefit from the IPL in the production and logistic areas for many decades to lead in technology. The Customers also can benefit from the willingness of the IPL to go for unusual models and to question traditions.
Due to the huge demand for consulting services in 2008 the company founded the 'IPL Beratungs GmbH' as a separated unit for professional consulting. Both IPL and IPL consulting represent an effective team for all issues around product management and logistics.
