The Wadi Al-Seer College in Amman is an institution of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Palestinian students are trained as technicians there. In the commercial and industrial refrigeration class, the students learn how to service and repair domestic and industrial refrigerators, upright freezers and cold stores. BITZER is providing suitable visual aids for this.
Making education tangible
Newly acquired knowledge is retained better if theory is accompanied by practice. BITZER therefore donated four refrigeration compressors to the college, and these are now an integral part of its refrigeration and air conditioning courses. A cutaway model and an exhibition model of a reciprocating compressor and two scroll compressor exhibition models with a tandem design have found a new home at the Wadi Al-Seer College. They were presented to the college by Stefan Leitl, Managing Director BITZER Middle East, and Rachid Assebbane, Customer Support Engineer BITZER Middle East, in an official ceremony.
From trade fairs to college
Stefan Leitl says: ‘I am delighted to see our exhibition and cutaway models being given a new lease of life, so to speak. What could be better for a compressor once it has been used at a trade fair? It is very rewarding for us to see that the compressors are very useful here at the college and that the students and teachers alike are impressed by them.’ The models can be used to explain the individual compressor components clearly and make them easy to understand. More than 80 students are enrolled in the area of HVAC and refrigeration; the college also offers other areas of study.
