Aaron Garry, North American CEO of Bizerba, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This award is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. Our collaboration with Subway® has been a journey of shared visions and aspirations, and being recognized as Supplier of the Year is a monumental achievement for our entire team."
Bizerba's journey to this recognition began in the spring of 2022 when the company secured a landmark order to produce more than 24,000 slicers for Subway franchisees, aimed at improving in-restaurant operations across North America for one of the world’s largest restaurant brands. The automatic slicers, meticulously crafted in Bizerba's facilities in Meßkirch, Germany, have been instrumental in elevating the quality of Subway’s protein offerings even further by introducing freshly sliced meats.
The partnership between Independent Purchasing Cooperative (IPC) – the member-owned cooperative of Subway franchisees that handles supply chain processes for restaurants – and Bizerba was propelled by a shared vision for innovation and excellence, leading to a seamless rollout of the slicers across Subway locations.
The collaboration was further enriched by mutual engagements, including visits by Subway representatives to Bizerba's plant in Germany and Bizerba’s team visiting various franchise locations, to closely observe the slicers' impact on operational efficiency and product quality.
Upon receiving the award, Andreas W. Kraut, Chairman of the Board, CEO and shareholder of Bizerba took the stage, remarking, "It's an honor to stand here today. This award is not just for Bizerba but a testament to the power of collaboration and the incredible synergy between our teams and Subway. Together, we are setting new industry standards."
The award comes as Subway continues its multi-year transformation journey to improve across all aspects of its business, including delivering better food and a better guest experience. The introduction of Bizerba deli meat slicers across Subway’s extensive network of restaurants in North America played a significant role in offering guests a better, fresher sandwich and enabling franchisees to be more competitive in the marketplace.
IPC, Subway and Bizerba’s partnership is an example of collaborative success and shared commitment to excellence. The Supplier of the Year award celebrates Bizerba's outstanding contributions to Subway's operational advancements.
