Als Beispiel dient ein produzierender Industriebetrieb, dessen Fertigung nach dem Kanban-Prinzip mit Lagerartikeln versorgt wird. Der Einsatz der RFID-Technologie verbessert den gesamten Prozeß, indem er frühere Versorgungsengpässe durch eine automatisierte Lösung eliminiert. Durch eine ständige Statusabfrage sind alle Fertigungslinien rechtzeitig vor und während des Produktionsprozesses mit Lagerartikeln versorgt und können die Aufträge ohne Wartezeiten fertigen. Das Lagerpersonal, die sog. Milkrunner werden in Echtzeit über die Notwendigkeit von Nachlieferungen informiert und müssen dies nicht durch Rundgänge durch die Produktion abfragen.
Zu sehen ist die Kanban-Lösung in Halle 7A-124 auf dem Stand der Brooks RFID Division. Das Unternehmen freut sich auf zahlreiche Besucher und interessante Diskussionen zum Thema Automatisierung.
