Bei dem Besuch des "Bayerischen Zentrums für Angewandte Energieforschung e.V." in Würzburg unterstrich die Parlamentarische Staatsekretärin beim Bundesminister für Wirtschaft und Technologie, Dagmar Wöhrl, die Rolle von Forschung und Entwicklung für eine sichere und klimaverträgliche Energieversorgung: "Innovative Energieeffizienztechnologien sind die wirksamste und kostengünstigste Maßnahme zur Sicherung der Energiezukunft unseres Landes. Sie fallen aber nicht vom Himmel, sondern müssen durch Forschung und Entwicklung vorbereitet werden."
Das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie unterstützt den Innovationsprozess durch gezielte Förderung von Forschung und Entwicklung moderner Effizienztechnologien in Bereichen, in denen die größten Energieeinsparpotenziale liegen, z. B. im Gebäudesektor. Wöhrl weiter: "Zur Stärkung der Forschungslandschaft in Deutschland auf dem Gebiet moderner Energietechnologien haben wir die Fördermaßnahmen des Bundeswirtschaftsministeriums in einem Technologieprogramm 'Klimaschutz und Energieeffizienz' gebündelt und die Mittel für die Energieforschung noch einmal erhöht."
