2006 wurden für Rüstungsgüter (einschließlich Kriegswaffen) insgesamt Einzelausfuhrgenehmigungen im Wert von ca. 4,2 Mrd. ¤ erteilt - das entspricht dem Vorjahreswert. Mit ca. 72,5 % entfällt der überwiegende Anteil der Genehmigungen auf EU NATO- und NATO-gleichgestellte Länder, mit denen vielfältige Kooperationen im Rüstungsbereich bestehen.
Der Gesamtwert der tatsächlich exportierten Kriegswaffen ist gegenüber dem Vorjahr um ca. 16 % auf 1,4 Mrd. ¤ zurückgegangen. Ein Anteil von 66 % des Gesamtwertes entfiel dabei auf Ausfuhren in EU-, NATO und NATO-gleichgestellte Länder. Die übrigen Exporte umfassen hauptsächlich die Ausfuhr von U- und Schnellbooten nach Südkorea, Südafrika und Tunesien. Der Anteil von Kriegswaffen an den deutschen Gesamtexporten lag bei nur 0,15 %.
Die Genehmigungswerte für so genannte Kleinwaffen, das sind insbesondere automatische Handfeuerwaffen, sind mit 37 Mio. ¤ gegenüber den beiden Vorjahren leicht um 3,5 % gestiegen, für die Gruppe der Drittstaaten, d.h. für Länder, die nicht zu EU, NATO oder gleichgestellten Staaten gehören, von 12,6 Mio. ¤ auf 15,6 Mio. ¤. Auf Entwicklungsländer entfiel dagegen mit knapp einer Million ¤ ein deutlich geringerer Wert als im Vorjahr - hier ist ein Rückgang um über 80 % zu verzeichnen.
