Die Wirtschaftsförderung metropoleruhr GmbH, der Initiativkreis Ruhr sowie die Industrie- und Handelskammern des Ruhrgebiets treiben seit Jahren konsequent die Diskussion um die notwendige Verkehrsinfrastruktur voran, um Mobilität als Motor wirtschaftlicher Entwicklung zu sichern bzw. zu optimieren. Auf der Verkehrsfachtagung Mobilität Ruhr, die am 1. Dezember 2011 im Stadtgarten Bochum zum vierten Mal stattfindet und vom Wirtschafts- und Verkehrsminister des Landes NRW, Harry K. Voigtsberger, eröffnet wird, sollen neue Impulse und Ideen diskutiert und erarbeitet werden. Ein wichtiges Thema wird die unübersehbare Benachteiligung des bevölkerungsreichsten Bundeslandes NRW und damit des Ruhrgebiets bei den Bundeszuweisungen für Verkehrsinfrastrukturmaßnahmen sein.
