Bison Gear, a US based gearmotor manufacturer partnered with CADENAS PARTsolutions LLC to create an all-new interactive 3D digital parts catalog. Built by CADENAS, the catalog will enable Bison Gear’s engineering customers to instantly configure and download the exact product they need for their design. The new catalog, scheduled for launch in early 2017, will provide an industry-leading digital customer experience, streamlining the product specification process and providing on-demand access to digital product data in more than 150 formats.

Bison Gear manufactures fractional and integral gearmotors, electric motors and gear reducers for hundreds of customers from a variety of industries, including multinational industrial and commercial equipment OEMs. With such a large and diverse customer base, Bison Gear needed a powerful and flexible digital catalog solution, says Mike Niemela, Director of Marketing & Strategic Business Development at Bison Gear.

“3D CAD model downloads are our best sales leads, so we knew we had to get this right,” says Niemela, “We performed an exhaustive search of the various 3D digital catalog & configuration platforms available. We even considered creating our own solution in-house. After weighing the various capabilities, platform flexibility and long term cost-of-ownership, we selected CADENAS as the best overall business partner and strongest service provider. They came to the table with the most complete package, experienced team and hands-down the highest quality outputs.”

Niemela also said he is excited about the ability to expand Bison’s reach by publishing their 3D CAD catalog data to CADENAS 85 plus PARTcommunities and to enable distributors to leverage Bison product data within their sites as well.

“Plus, the CADENAS platform provides 3D CAD models in 150 formats. That was a real differentiator,” said Niemela.

The Bison Gear 3D CAD catalog is currently in development by CADENAS. The two companies are planning to have product families live for engineers to access by early 2017.

“Bison did their homework,” says Tim Thomas, CADENAS PARTsolutions CEO. “We’re excited and privileged to be working with such a smart and innovative team at Bison and we look forward to helping them deliver an exceptional digital experience for their customers.”
