Canvys, a division of Richardson Electronics, Ltd., is expanding its product portfolio with the addition of the new wide format True Flat Panel PC series for the Healthcare Sector. The series, which is approved for medical use, features an aluminium housing design and high performance PC. The medical approvals include: FCC, CE, EN60601-1.
The touch screen wide format panel PCs are available in 15.6", 18.5" and 21.5" screen sizes. The projective capacitive touch screen (PCT) can be operated when wearing latex gloves and/or with a stylus. The PCT technology offers a real glass surface with a very high transmission rate that is easy to clean.
The series feature a fan-less design and an ultra-slim bezel that measures less than 48 mm. The PCs have a completely flat front surface without edges eliminating areas where dirt or other substances can collect, and a front side protective class rating of IP54, making the products dust and waterproof. The Panel PCs are particularly suitable for data gathering, monitoring, control tasks in the operating room (OR), and for all other interactive applications within a medical environment.
The panel PCs come standard with a 1.8 GHz Intel Atom D525 processor. The integrated main board offers 2 x DDR3 SO-DIMM slots and supports up to 4 GB DDR3 RAM. In addition, the board has a mini PCI-E slot for a WLAN adapter card Gigabit Ethernet, VGA audio, and many other interfaces such as USB 2.0, and RS232. A 2.5" 160 GB SATA hard disk is provided for storage; this can be replaced by a CF card or a Solid State Drive (SSD).
The True Flat Panel PCs are LCD panels with Light Emitting Diodes (LED) backlight, providing an improved contrast and lower energy consumption in comparison to standard LCD panels with Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL). The average energy consumption for this series is less than 35 watts. Other features include:
- The VESA fixing holes on the rear of the housing facilitate the simple mounting of the Panel PCs on a pedestal or a support arm.
- Linux and all standard Windows operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 are supported.
- Optional accessories include a webcam, a RFID reader, a magnetic stripe card reader and a 2D scanner.
- All Canvys True Flat Panel PCs have the approvals required by law such as CE and EN60601-1.
The 15.6" and 18.5" sizes are available immediately from Canvys Europe.
The 21.5" screen size will be available during the first quarter of 2012.
