Nun plant die Hauptstadt der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate zwei Milliarden US-Dollar in die Fabrikation von Photovoltaik zu investieren. Diese Summe gehört zu den größten Investitionen, die jemals in diesem Bereich gemacht wurden. Das Geld wird für eine ausgeklügelte Strategie verwendet, die der Produktion und Expansion der Photovoltaik dienen wird.
2009 soll diesbezüglich eine Solarfabrik in Deutschland an den Start gehen, 2010 wird in Abu Dhabi das Pendant dazu entstehen. Die beiden Solarwerke werden zusammen rund 210 Megawatt aufweisen können.
Schon jetzt ist Abu Dhabi Marktführer im Energiesektor. Mit den neuen Konzepten der Scheiche wird nun das Ziel Weltmarktführer im Bereich erneuerbare alternative Energien angestrebt.
