Auf einer Fläche von 4.600.000 m² entstehen hier verschiedene gigantische Stadions für die Sportarten Rugby, Fußball, Leichtathletik, Hockey, Golf und Cricket. Zudem wird auch ein hypermodernes Stadion mit rund 60.000 Sitzplätzen errichtet, in dem einmal Konzerte oder sonstige Veranstaltungen stattfinden sollen.
Der Bau des Cricket-Stadions soll wohl noch in diesem Frühjahr beendet werden. Rund 25.000 Besucher werden dann an den Spielen der Sportler live teilhaben können.
Mit seiner Stadt des Sportes will Dubai ein Mekka für alle Sportler weltweit schaffen. Das Megaprojekt wird über 4 Milliarden Dollar kosten und voraussichtlich 2011 fertig gestellt sein.
