Vor kurzem erst stellte die Regierung des Landes klar, dass der Staat Dubai nichts mit den Schulden des Immobilienkonzerns Dubai World zu tun habe.
Um sich nun selbst zu sanieren, denkt Dubai World auch über den Verkauf von Firmenanteilen nach. Etwaige Interessenten aus dem Ausland sollen dem Konzern wieder bessere Zeiten und den so nötigen Geldfluss bescheren.
Abdulrahman al-Saleh, Finanzoberhaupt Dubais äußerte bzgl. der Sachlage wie folgt: "Ein Teil der Bemühungen, zu Geld zu kommen, ist der Verkauf von Beteiligungen - Anteile, die dem Unternehmen gehören, nicht Anteile der Regierung. Das Unternehmen hält ausländische Beteiligungen und hat in Immobilien im Ausland investiert. Es gibt nichts, was einen Verkauf dieser Vermögenswerte verhindern könnte."
