InnoTrans 2014: ContiTech's Sustainable Solutions for Tomorrow's Rail Transport

(PresseBox) (Hannover, )
.
- Newly developed air springs increase service life at extreme operating temperatures
- High level of development expertise for original equipment
- Strong service partners increase availability in the replacement sector

Extreme temperatures such as those in Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan place high demands on spring systems in rail vehicles. ContiTech produces MEGI® springs and air-spring systems specifically designed for use in extremely hot or cold conditions. These include the newly developed K air spring, which can withstand temperatures as low as -50 °C. It is an excellent example of ContiTech's comprehensive development expertise and its "Engineering Next Level" principle. ContiTech will be showcasing these new developments and other spring products for sustainable rail engineering at InnoTrans 2014 (September 23 through 26) in hall 9, booth 501. ContiTech will also be presenting its air actuators for pantographs, its on-train water hoses, and its convoluted air springs for rail vehicles.

At the forefront are solutions for the worldwide growth of local transportation in cities and metropolitan areas. MEGI® springs and air-spring systems from ContiTech make metro trains and trams more comfortable and safer for passengers. In doing so, they increase the appeal of environmentally friendly local transportation and help reduce noise pollution in cities.

In the original equipment sector, ContiTech impresses with its development and material expertise. As a strong partner to the rail vehicle industry, ContiTech is working continually on solutions that help air-spring systems last longer even under the hardest conditions. ContiTech has the only accredited test laboratory in the world for testing air-spring systems and elastomer spring elements in rail vehicles. This illustrates its high level of development expertise.

In the replacement sector, MEGI® springs and air-spring systems help increase the service life of rail vehicles, and in doing so help make rail transport more sustainable. Its strong global partner and trade network enables ContiTech to respond quickly to market demands. A good example of this successful network comes from the UK. For many years now, ContiTech has been working successfully with its sales partner Ferrabyrne in Littlehampton, providing British customers with a comprehensive service. This is a success story that can be applied to global structures.
