Nova Spot – ideal for UV coatings
An example of this is the new compressible Nova Spot coating plate, which – thanks to its special, newly developed top compound chemistry – is ideal for both water-based and UV coatings. Using a special manufacturing process, top compound and mylar foil are joined together so well that even aggressive UV coatings do not cause delamination. Following drupa, Nova Spot will be available in all markets worldwide in the thicknesses 1.15 mm, 1.35 mm and 1.95 mm.
"Before launching it at drupa, we spent a year intensively testing Nova Spot in various print shops and markets, where the coating plate really performed well, even with aggressive UV coatings," says Speier. "The new top compound chemistry makes the coating plate more durable and economical. Special coatings are increasingly being used in the printing sector.” Protective, special-effect and tactile coatings are increasingly being used, in particular for high-end finishes in packaging printing.
Navy Premium – the new performance class
The Navy Premium is the right choice for high-end sheet-fed, cold-set and heat-set printing, and was developed with durability in mind. The carcass, the most important base layer of the blanket, is a completely new development, and is highly compressible, low-stretch and extremely durable. This means the Navy Premium retains its stable printing characteristics throughout its lifetime, even in fast-printing cold-set applications. The printing blanket, which Phoenix Xtra Blankets is using to further expand its cold-set range, is available as of now in a thickness of 1.96 mm.
