For ThyssenKrupp Steel USA and ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA, the new investment is the key to increasing their market presence in North America and reinforcing their world leader position as high-end steel producers. When fully operational, the complex is expected to provide the NAFTA market with 5.1 million metric tons of high quality, value-added products for customers in the appliance, pipe and tube, commercial food preparation, service center, automotive and construction industries, among others.
The power conversion specialist Converteam supplied the complete electrical systems – 1,250 drive systems, basic and process automation – for the carbon steel cold rolling and processing plant and for a set of stainless steel cold rolling mills. Converteam is renowned for its technology and process expertise in dealing with complex industrial processes and global project management. The scope of supply ranged from design, manufacturing, installation advisory service, commissioning of drive technology and automation through to personnel training.
