1-Liter-PCs sind kleiner als mancher WLAN-Router, bringen ausreichend Rechenleistung mit und können sogar 4K-Monitore ansteuern. Nachdem sie bereits in heimischen Wohn- und Arbeitszimmern als Mini-Server oder Medienzuspieler im Einsatz sind, erobern die kleinen Kompakten jetzt auch die Büros.Der Mac mini gilt als unangefochtener Vorreiter der Minirechner und überzeugt auch heute noch bei Verarbeitungsqualität, Leistungsaufnahme und Geräuschverhalten. Doch inzwischen hat die Konkurrenz mächtig aufgeholt.
"Die Modelle von Acer, Asus, Lenovo und mit Einschränkungen auch Gigabyte liefern ausreichend Performance, um mit Apple mitzuhalten, und sind dabei günstiger", sagt Christian Hirsch, Redakteur beim Computermagazin c't. So überzeugt etwa der VivoMini von Asus nicht nur durch ein gutes Schnittstellenangebot, sondern auch durch eine flinke SSD. Die Business-Rechner von Acer und Lenovo ähneln sich bei Ausstattung und Aufbau stark. Während Lenovos ThinkCentre bei der gefühlten Geschwindigkeit punktet, eignet sich Acers Veriton dank serieller Schnittstelle und Windows 7 für Rechner, die in eine ältere Infrastruktur eingebunden sind.
"Gamer sollten um Minis allerdings einen Bogen machen. Für sie sind die Prozessoren dieser Geräteklasse einfach zu schmalbrüstig. Auch Aufgaben, die vom Rechner Volllast erfordern, lassen sich über größere Desktop-PCs besser erledigen", erklärt c't-Experte Hirsch.
