Die Anwendung der Normenreihe DIN EN 71 macht Spielzeug sicher und hilft sowohl gesundheitlichen als auch wirtschaftlichen Schaden abzuwenden, wie er jüngst durch die Rückrufaktionen von Spielzeug aus chinesischer Herstellung entstanden ist.
Jetzt ist die DIN EN 71-9 in überarbeiteter Form erschienen. Die Norm beschäftigt sich mit Fragen der chemisch-organischen Zusammensetzung von Spielzeug. Sie legt Anforderungen an die Migration von bzw. den Gehalt an bestimmten gefährlichen organisch-chemischen Verbindungen in Spielzeug und Spielzeugmaterialien fest. Sie ist auf Spielzeuge und Teile von Spielzeug anwendbar, die bei normalem Gebrauch wahrscheinlich in den Mund genommen werden, über längere Zeit mit der Haut oder den Augen in Kontakt kommen oder organische Verbindungen enthalten, die inhaliert werden könnten.
