Die Auszeichnung erhielt UNIMED vom National Center for the Development of Information Management (CENADEM) für seine hybride Dokumentenmanagement-Lösung. UNIMED erfasst täglich alle an 30 Niederlassungen anfallenden Dokumente dezentral und archiviert sie zentral auf einem vom Telekommunikationsanbieter Brasil Telecom verwalteten Server. Jeden Monat kommen rund 1,8 Millionen Dokumente hinzu. Benutzer haben von allen Standorten aus via Internet rund um die Uhr Zugriff auf den Dokumenten-Pool.
Zur revisionssicheren Langzeitarchivierung wird zusätzlich ein hybrides Archivierungsverfahren verwendet. Die mit DocuWare verwalteten Dokumente werden dabei mit einem Kodak-Archivschreiber vom Typ i9610 auf Mikrofiches erfasst.
Überreicht wurde die CENADEM-Auszeichnung in São Paulo, Brasilien, im Rahmen der diesjährigen Konferenz InfoImagem 2006. CENADEM wurde 1976 gegründet und ist die einzige Organisation in Brasilien, die sich ausschließlich damit beschäftigt, neue Technologien im Bereich des Dokumenten-Managements bekannt zu machen. Des Weiteren bietet CENADEM CDIA+(Certified Document Imaging Architect)-Trainings an und hat es sich zur Aufgabe gesetzt, auf die wichtige Rolle von Dokumenten-Management in der brasilianischen Geschäftswelt hinzuweisen.
