domainfactory hat nun auf die Anfragen vieler Webentwickler reagiert und stellt Ruby on Rails ab sofort ab dem Sharedhosting-Tarif "ManagedHosting M" bereit. Es kann sowohl von Neukunden als auch in bestehenden Accounts einfach per Kundenmenü aktiviert werden. Rails-Applikationen können danach sofort genutzt werden.
Einfache Handhabung
Rails-Applikationen laufen bei domainfactory auf den regulären Webservern und sind ganz normal auf dem Webspace installierbar. Die Installation - Upload der Daten, Konfiguration der Applikation, etc. - unterscheidet sich damit nicht von anderen dynamischen Anwendungen. Auch die im Tarif enthaltenen MySQL-Datenbanken stehen für Ruby-on-Rails-Applikationen wie gewohnt zur Verfügung.
Ruby on Rails basiert auf der Programmiersprache Ruby. Das Web-Framework unterstützt die Entwicklung von dynamischen, datenbankbasierten Web-Anwendungen. Es ermöglicht eine hohe Produktivität und findet deshalb insbesondere bei der Entwicklung von Web-2.0-Anwendungen immer häufiger Verwendung.
"Ruby on Rails" bei domainfactory domainfactory stellt Ruby on Rails durch das neue Apache-Modul mod_rails zur Verfügung. Die Programmiersprache Ruby, welche bereits seit längerer Zeit in vielen Webhosting-Paketen bei domainfactory enthalten ist, steht in der Version 1.8.6 zur Verfügung. Das Ruby-on-Rails-Framework selbst ist in der Version 2.0.2 installiert. Rubygems, der Paketmanager für Ruby on Rails, ist in der Version 1.1.1 verfügbar.
Ruby on Rails ist sowohl für Neukunden als auch für bestehende Accounts verfügbar:
- in den Webhosting-Paketen ManagedHosting M, L und XXL
- in den Reseller-Paketen ResellerPlus 10, 25, 50 und 100
- in allen aktuellen ManagedServer- und ResellerDedicated-Angeboten
- in allen nicht mehr angebotenen ManagedServer-, PremiumManaged- und ResellerManaged-Produkten.
Für die Nutzung stehen am Server bis zu 80 MB Arbeitsspeicher pro Prozess und maximal vier gleichzeitige Prozesse pro Applikation zur Verfügung. Nimmt die Beantwortung eines Requests mehr als 20 Sekunden in Anspruch, wird der entsprechende Request automatisch abgebrochen. ManagedServer-Kunden können diese Sicherheitsfunktion in ihrem Kundenmenü deaktivieren.
