Immerhin seien bei vielen Datenbanken umfangreiche Tests vor einem Versionswechsel nötig. Auch Neuentwicklungen könnten jetzt bereits auf der neuen Version aufsetzen.
Für andere Nutzer ist die neue Datenbank-Version derzeit hingegen wenig geeignet. Marburg: "Wir raten ausdrücklich davon ab, MySQL 5 schon jetzt im produktiven Einsatz zu verwenden."
