At this years embedded world in Nuremberg, Germany (March 1-3) dresden elektronik will be presenting a number of new development tools and kits for low power wireless applications. Based on the also new versatile development boards deRFnode and deRFgateway the kits offer out-of-the-box network solutions for 6LoWPAN and ZigBee.
The development kits are the perfect starting point for testing and development of applications with the radio modules deRFarm7 and the compact USB radio sticks deRFusb that were introduced at the end of 2010. The user will be equipped with a complete development environment, furnished with everything that is needed to integrate the modules of all dresden elektronik deRF families into 6LoWPAN, ZigBee and proprietary IEEE 802.15.4 applications.
The comprehensive features of deRFnode and deRFgateway with USB, on board sensors, LED indicators, user interface buttons and Ethernet (deRFgateway only) allow beside the evaluation of deRF modules also the immediate implementation as final product. For this purpose a compatible housing will be available.
Due to the Ethernet connection deRFgateway is mainly applied as a coordinator and gateway between wired and wireless networks. Just like the deRFnode it is equipped with a temperature, light, and acceleration sensor and so can be employed for measurement tasks in home and industrial environments. The deRFnode stands out due to its exceptional energy saving characteristics. Because of the consistent low power design it is suitable as a latent end device which under battery operation can easily reach a running time of several years. Both development boards will be available by the end of March 2011 with several variations: with and without housing, for solderable and pluggable radio modules and with external antenna.
Examples of possible applications of deRFnode and deRFgateway for 6LoWPAN, ZigBee/Smart Energy + Home Automation and Energy Harvesting will be presented at the booth in hall 12 - 246.
