"HEADLINE": Know-how transfer along the entire value chain
Innovative materials, processes, tools, simulation methods and measurement technology are used in the development of the HEADLINE cell and its climate-friendly production. This is achieved through the transfer of know-how within the broad-based project consortium. It covers the entire value chain from the development of materials to cell production. For example, the researchers are combining new highly conductive liquid electrolytes for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and for lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide (NCM) with an efficient, environmentally friendly, non-toxic extrusion process as well as tools for higher coating widths and speeds for significantly more efficient and ecological electrode production. The efficient use of resources is ensured by an innovative inline inspection technology that controls the manufacturing processes by real-time monitoring, makes them more flexible and digitises them in parts.
"Battery 2020": Strong partners for Germany as an industrial location
The results of the HEADLINE project (03XP0394A-I) are being utilised and implemented by five participating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In this way, the research project supports Germany as a business location. It is part of the measure "Batterie 2020 Transfer – Batteriematerialien für zukünftige elektromobile, stationäre und weitere industrierelevante Anwendungen". The project runs for three years and ends on 30 June 2024. The research consortium consists of the following partners:
Brabender GmbH & Co. KG
ECT-Kema GmbH
Asahi Kasei Europe GmbH
Daikin Chemical Europe GmbH
IfU Diagnostic Systems GmbH
SURAGUS GmbH
IANUS Simulation GmbH
Fraunhofer-Institut für Keramische Technologien und Systeme (IKTS)
EAS Batteries GmbH (coordination)
